It's now October 24 and I'm scrambling to figure out just how to stay in business. It was so easy and so good for everybody when Bill Sharples had the place and made the promise that he would not change the business model.
All we had to do was choose a subscription plan and we were advertising! People searched for Tucson and added some more filters and found vacation rentals they liked, put in an email and we as owners responded. It was GREAT! Then Expedia bought it out for 3.9 BILLION. That's right BILLION. And everything changed. They want to make money in every which way they can and are imposing so many restrictions and demands. Can you imagine this: We get dinged if we don't respond to an inquiry within the time frame that they designate?? That can be an international inquiry arriving at 2 a.m. and if we don't respond within the hour, we're dinged and we drop in listings. Yep. But it gets worse, If this is regular, they remove us! Is this not simply unbelievable and that's just the beginning. It goes on and on. I'm worried. I'm worried how to handle this when our subscription runs out in December. I don't want to put another dime in their greedy pockets. (Don't forget it's not just us putting dimes in their pockets -- it's the Guests putting many, many, many of their dimes too!). Keep your fingers crossed for us! I'm working on things . . .
