Had to create a Page 2 as Page 1 was getting too long!

Here's a link to our Guestbook on VRBO:  VRBO Guestbook

From Kathy of Oregon
 and on VRBO
The mini-hacienda was super clean; Fran is a most gracious host;the kitchen had lots of little extras to make fewer trips to the store - microwave popcorn, chips & salsa, small sweet treats, tea, coffee, sugar, oil, basic spices, lots of paper products, sharp knives! Linens are crisp and clean and abundant. Wi-Fi is easy and fast. Small collection of movies

Thank you so much Mary!
From Barbara, NY, NY:  Among other kind things in a lovely email we received here is an excerpt:  "I want to say thank you to you for providing such an amazing home away from home for me.  It was a joy every single minute.  I still say that the bed and pillows reminded me of the Brenner's Park Hotel in Baden Baden after a trans Atlantic flight.  Never could I have imagined that a fold down bed could be so amazing."

Loved, loved, loved the memo on her check:

Review #7515758 surgery recoup!

Short easy drive to Tucson Medical Center. Great hosts- many many extra amenities including cheesecake bites and tortillas with salsa. Comfortable décor really appreciated the hospital type stand to make eating easier for recovering patient. Convenient to everything. Thx again for a better week than I expected. Will definitely stay again if I need to return to Tucson.

From Jo and Nancy of Banff, Alberta

Thanks so much for the kind words!  We hope our paths will cross again!

What a HUGE surprise the FedEx man brought us from Angela and Fred:  A San Francisco Giants hat!!  Just in time for the 2014 World Series too!  Fred and Angela have been here numerous times and just left a few days ago.  As always, it was a sincere pleasure!

You will not find better hospitality

This place is not your run-or-the-mill vacation rental. This property is managed by people who care about your experience. It is a very comfortable space and every need has been considered. I arrived with a few busy days ahead of me. Fran had asked in advance if I could use a few groceries to get going and she got them for me (for the cost of the groceries only) so the first days of meals were all taken care of! As well, the kitchen had lovely little bonuses like tortillas and wonderful salsa, brownies and sugar-free and full-on-sugar candies and chocolates. The space is warm and inviting and has two decks for use by the renters ... incredible! There is a stack of DVDs and books that I will have to come back to enjoy! Hosts Fran and Charlie work hard at making the space be just right and it is great!

It was a sincere pleasure getting to meet Rita of Washington state and I'm hoping our paths will cross again!
Pat J and "Spanky" of Albuquerque, NM, left this on VRBO:

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE After just experiencing a "Not Wonderful" lodging in another city, Garcia House was such a treat. It really was like staying with a friend. The Casita was so comfortable. The bed was great, the kitchen had everything & more. My dog & I really enjoyed the screened in porch. I think my dog made a new friend. It was so relaxing. Fran was very helpful with restaurant suggestions, sightseeing help & general info. I will definitely be back. Thank you Fran, for everything.

Bonnie of Colorado came and spent a week with us while taking a class here in Tucson.   She left a message on our dry erase board that I felt compelled to post!  I do hope there'll be more classes to bring Bonnie back again!

Bonnie was also kind enough to post a review on VRBO!  Thank you so much Bonnie!!

Loved it !!I Loved staying at Fran and Charlie's Place! They are warm and welcoming and it felt like "home away from home". Fran went above and beyond with her treats, hospitality and overall kindness! I felt like I have known her for years! The location is great with easy access to anywhere I wanted to go. I personally like being in an older neighborhood of Tucson, rather than a suburb or new development.

It was WONDERFUL to see Rita of Washington state again!  I do believe this won't be her last visit with us either.  Looking forward to your next visit, Rita!

C of the dynamic duo of C&A paid us yet another visit.  If it's not her, it's him and if it's not him, it may be them!  It's wonderful to be the "go to" lodging for these two when they come to town.  As always, thank you!!

Wonderful place to enjoy Tucson

I was lucky enough to find Garcia House and they were available for me to spend my winter there. That was a number of years ago and I've been returning ever since but circumstances in my life are going to prevent me from returning and I've had to cancel my 2018 winter reservation. The studio is an annex off of Fran and Charlie's house but with a completely private entry and driveway. There are two patios. The one off the driveway is completely private but the one I used more was the one that is screened in off their backyard. Fran and Charlie aren't big users of their backyard but when they're back there, it's very friendly and they're respectful if I don't want to be engaged in conversation or such and it feels very private being screened in. One thing I always tell people about is the two views--one from the kitchen of the Catalina Mts. and the other of the beautifully landscaped back yard that includes a water feature of a swimming pool. There's plenty of room in the interior to be comfortable and it has a fully equipped kitchen and large closet for clothes for a long stay and other things. The wifi works great and there's expanded cable and loads of dvds. Garcia House is really conveniently located in the central part of Tucson and I had no problems getting all around town from there. Fran and Charlie are great hosts and we've become personal friends over the years. I'm really sorry that I won't be able to return but I can write a review for them. They've never asked me for one and it's not something I normally do. I know they'd like another long-term winter guest and I hope they get that person. Short or long term, you won't be disappointed in renting Garcia House.

And I replied:
Owner's Response: We always have THE best Guests but Kathy was the best of the best! It was a sincere pleasure to welcome her every year and be her lodging. Kathy became a part of the fabric and rhythm of the property and became such a good friend too. Though we'd hoped for many, many more years of her annual Winter visits, life has a way of throwing curve balls and that's not to be. We're going to miss her staying with us but we will always remain friends.

Jan & Bruce gave us this lovely, expandable bamboo trivet!
We were lucky enough to have Jan and Bruce come stay with us at both Garcia House and Glenn House!  Jan and Bruce came with their gorgeous goldendoodle, Cooper, and and they couldn't have been nicer Guests -- they even gave us a present!  I don't know quite how Jan knew that I actually needed a trivet but I did.  Not any more!  We know our paths will cross in the future and we look very forward to seeing them again!  Thank you so very much!

For easier reading (from Inside Card):  We sure hit the jackpot when I found you on the internet.  We couldn't have found better hosts - Will be hard to find another rental like Garcia/Glenn Houses.  Thank you for making our stay in Tucson so enjoyable.  You guys are way too generous and gracious.  Jan, Bruce & Cooper

For easier reading (from Yellow Notepaper):  Fran & Charlie   Thank you for helping make our stay in Tucson so enjoyable.  Glenn House became our home away from home.  You guys are such wonderful hosts.  Come visit us way up North!  Will miss you,  Jan & Bruce
P.S.  Loved all your treats -- too much  Thanks

It's always great to see Alice and Simon and we've seen them both here at Garcia House and at Glenn House.  We're truly super convenient for them with a relative being a neighbor of ours.  Our neighbor is also a friend and over these years of visits, Alice and Simon have become friends too.  I'm sure we'll see them again and look forward to it!

The stars were aligned for us when we connected with Charlee and she chose us to make her home in Tucson while on a travel nurse assignment at Banner UMC.  She was an absolute delight to have as a Guest but better yet, we became personal friends.  Add to that, she met her future husband while with us and is now living permanently in Southern Arizona!
From Charlee C, South Carolina Travel Nurse, via email:

From the moment I reached out to Fran to secure housing as a Travel Nurse I was made to feel like I was right at home.  Fran took the time to send a magazine with information on the variety of things to do while in Tucson.  She was engaging on the phone in making the arrangements for my stay, she asked for a shopping list of items I would need until I found time to make it to the grocer, and she greeted me upon my arrival to ensure I had everything I could possibly need.

The accommodations were charming.  The chocolates at the coffee station, the lighting arranged "just so" and the art work perfectly captured the essence of Tucson.  Fran was always willing to make suggestions for the latest event going on in Tucson!  I also felt very safe in what was then, a new town.  My stay could not have been more perfect.  It was so perfect in fact, that I decided to stay!  And while I am no longer a tenant, I count Fran as a friend!!!!  One that I value among my greatest treasures!

It was wonderful to have Mary stay with us for a total of 100 days!  She's an absolute delight and we would welcome her back with open arms should she ever take another nursing job in Tucson.  I wish only the best for her and her future endeavors wherever they may take her!

It was wonderful to have Melani stay with us for six months.  She's an absolutely lovely person and we'd welcome her return.    We hardly even knew when she was here but we'll still miss her!

There's a pretty good likelihood we'll be seeing Melani again and we look very forward to that.  In the meantime, we wish her all the best in her travel nurse adventures!

Picture
We tell our Guests absolutely no gratuity but Melani managed to find a workaround!  I found pretty packages with monogrammed travel cups, ledgers and lots of K-cups!  She is so sweet!  Thank you, Melani!!!

I say it time and time again that we get the very BEST guests and that most certainly includes Cynthia.  Cynthia was absolutely a delight and a perfect guest.  She's an experienced nurse but Tucson was her first travel job and we were lucky enough that she found and chose us to be her accommodations for her assignment.  While she was here, the pandemic swept the world but she plans on continuing to travel and put her own well-being at risk to help others.  When this is all behind us, I do hope we'll meet again and do that distillery tour we talked of!   Our best wishes and sincere thanks go out to Cynthia  and looking forward to our paths crossing again!
For easier reading, I've typed up Cynthia's Guest Book comment:

April 15, 2020

This is truly a sad day for me.  Fran and Charlie have been such wonderful hosts and I will miss them.  I work as a travel nurse and this was my 1st assignment.  I was not sure what to expect but staying here has been nothing short of excellent.  Fran always checked in on me to make sure that I was ok and always offered to help where she could.  I always enjoyed our talks and heard so much about Tucson.  I look forward to returning to the area to check out the distillery with the Garcias.  Thank you for making my 1st trael home a wonderful experience.

With Love
Cynthia (last name omitted for privacy)

BTW, I should have typed this so good luck deciphering my handwriting!  :)

UPDATE:  Oh My Gosh!  What an unexpected and thoughtful surprise arrived here today:   A bottle of Del Bac Whiskey!   Included was "Thank you for your hospitality and friendship.  Please enjoy!  Cynthia"

I was completely stunned by Cynthia's thoughtfulness and generosity and I'm looking forward to our distillery tour together one day!

I will be enjoying this fabulous bourbon for every special occasion for many moons to come and will think of and thank Cynthia every time!
